DDDL is the diagnostic application which includes support for Detroit legacy engines EPA 98 - EPA 04 (DDEC III - DDEC V and MBE PLD/MR2 and VCU).

The errors: 'Failed to launch help', 'Feature not included', or 'Help not supported' refers to the legacy help file format .HLP that is no longer supported by Microsoft Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and Windows 10.

To resolve for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, click here to visit the Microsoft Resolution section for instructions.

To resolve for Windows 10, use instructions below:

  1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Detroit Diesel\Diagnostic.
  2. Double-click DDDL.chm . (If you cannot locate the file, search local disk C:\ for DDDL.CHM). If the file cannot be located, download a copy from the Downloads section and save to desktop).
  3. Double-click DDDL.chm to verify it opens.
  4. Create a shortcut to the .CHM help file. Right-click the Windows Desktop and select New > Shortcut .
  5. Enter C:\Program Files (x86)\Detroit Diesel\Diagnostic .
  6. Type a name for the shortcut (eg DDDL Help Menu) and click Finish.
  7. Use this shortcut to access the DDDL Help menu when needed.



DDDL v6.50: For diagnosing fault codes, troubleshooting and reading/editing parameters on DDEC 5/MBE EPA 04 and earlier engine platforms. DDDL v6.x supports DDEC III, IV and V, and all software versions of the Series 60, MBE 900 and MBE 4000, EPA98 and EPA04 engines.
